Monster Hunter 2 Dos’ bounce mechanics are inaccurate when played on an emulator. Due to quirks in the way the Playstation 2 handles floating point maths, there are multiple instances where players may recieve more or less hitlag where results of emulator and original hardware maths diverge. This leads to players being advantaged or disadvantaged in certain scenarios, depending on how they play the game.
This patch fixes the emulator inaccuracies when calculating bounce and hitlag, bringing it up to parity with original Playstation 2 hardware, and providing all players an equal playing field like the developers intended. It fixes:
- The expected behaviour when using Blue Sharpness to strike a 20 hitzone.
- The expected behaviour when using Blue Sharpness to strike an 80 hitzone.
- 16 instances of extra hitlag being given to the player under certain circumstances.
